Mr. Scherer has more than 25 years of capital markets experience that encompasses investment banking, fixed income, corporate development, leveraged finance and corporate strategy.

He has been involved as intermediary and principal in mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures valued at over $6 billion, and debt and equity capital raises in excess of $15 billion. He has completed public and private transactions ranging in size and scope from domestic middle market to complex cross border deals in a myriad of industries including media, publishing, medical technology, medical devices, consumer products, and energy infrastructure.

Prior to founding Rockland Advisory Group, he was a Partner with Catalyst Capital Advisors, LLC and its predecessor firm, Peregrine Capital Partners, LLC, boutique investment banks focused on the middle market. Before that, he created and managed M&T Bank’s Capital Market Group. He previously worked at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein where he held positions in the Private Placement Group and Investment Banking. Matthew graduated with a B.B.A from The George Washington University, with concentrations in Finance and Political Science, and received an M.B.A. from Fordham University Graduate School of Business.
